Material & Manufacturing Process

WP347 and WP347H are stabilized austenitic stainless steel grades with niobium addition, designed for applications where elevated-temperature service and resistance to intergranular corrosion are important. At GX Fitting, we manufacture WP347/WP347H pipe fittings using controlled forming, heat treatment and finishing processes to meet demanding project requirements. Depending on the product size, thickness and technical specification, manufacturing may involve hot forming, cold finishing, machining and customized fabrication. Our production capability covers large-diameter and heavy-wall fittings, with controlled heating and heat-treatment procedures to maintain material properties and dimensional accuracy. Chemical composition is verified through spectrometer analysis, while mechanical properties and required inspections are performed according to applicable standards and project specifications.   • A: WP347H has a higher controlled carbon content (0.04%-0.10%) than standard WP347, which provides improved high-temperature creep and rupture strength for elevated-temperature service.
  • Q: Why is niobium added to WP347/WP347H stainless steel?
  • A: Niobium stabilizes the alloy by preferentially combining with carbon, preventing chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries and protecting against intergranular corrosion during and after welding.
